The Environmental Operations Branch are responsible for the preservation, management and enhancement of council’s diverse range of coastal, environmental and recreational assets and, in partnership with our community, the rich biodiversity of the region’s landscapes.
The Coastal Field Officer supports the Coastal Field Leader in effectively carrying out management activities for Council’s Coastal, Lakes and Wetlands Team and provides timely and professional, customer service in response to requests associated with coastal asset repairs coastal hazards, and incidents.
On an average day you will:
As directed by the Coastal Field Leader or Service Delivery Leader - Coastal, undertake routine coastal resource management activities:
- Monitor and support contracted machine works.
- Beach access tree and vegetation management, pruning and vegetation dispersal and brush cutting
Work with the Coastal Field Leader to:
- Demonstrate appropriate behaviours and standards.
- Complete daily operational duties
- Respond to customer requests in a timely and professional manner
- Apply established practices and procedures in the safe and compliant conduct of a range of technical activities related to coastal operations and coastal asset maintenance.
Ensure that all daily documentation and reporting is completed on time e.g. timesheets, incident reports etc.
About you
You will be trade qualified/Certificate III in a relevant field and/or equivalent substantial experience in working outdoors in public spaces, coupled with a General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) - White Card, current chainsaw ticket, level 1 and 2 and hold a “C” class driver’s licence.
Sound written and oral communication skills with the ability to use business technologies including MS Office Suite, mobile devices, asset (i.e. CONFIRM), customer and property management systems.
Ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislative requirements and relevant Council policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to safely perform manual tasks (i.e., physical agility, mobility and dexterity) including use and maintenance of mechanised and hand-held equipment
