About the Role
The Engineering Design and Surveying Team is responsible for providing coordinated expert solutions in the planning, development, and delivery of designs to facilitate the ongoing management of our civil assets that will support and align to council’s vision.
Our Cadet Civil Designer will assist with the delivery of quality design and for construction documentation for council’s supported projects in the capital works program with the guidance from Senior Civil Designers and Design Engineers
More specifically you will:
- Develop knowledge of design, drafting and survey technical systems.
- Develop knowledge of the organisation and assist in achieving the corporate goals of Council for the local community.
- Develop knowledge and use of computer software programs throughout the design development phase under supervision, including Autocad and 12d model.
- Prepare “As Constructed” documentation for various projects.
- Assist with municipal asset management strategies and systems.
- Assist Senior Designers with the preparation of basic cost effective civil designs with the application of relevant established guidelines under direct supervision from Senior Designers and Engineers, including construction documentation for the Capital Works Program.
- Work with Senior Designers and Engineers to identify project constraints and risks for the projects assigned, assisting as required in the development of effective risk mitigation strategies
- Document design decisions and complete the Design Quality Management System
About you
To be considered, you will presently be studying or have successful enrolment in an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or approved equivalent.
Our best candidates will have strong time management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to use initiative to problem solve routine matters and follow tasks through to completion.
You will have an understanding and developing knowledge of Autocad with demonstrated ability to learn other computer design applications including 12d Model
You will have proficient computer skills in typing, data entry and preparing Word documents, and excel spreadsheets.
You will have sound written and oral communications with a developing knowledge of preparing standard business correspondence, reports and documents.
You will have knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, standards, regulations and procedures relevant to a range of technical activities of civil engineering.
