About the Role

Manage Council’s Road Resurefacing and Rehabilitation Program utilising extensive experience in road maintenance, construction and asset management


Investigate and design road rehabilitation options, scope and estimate resurfacing and rehabilitation project costs, review previous programs, research new technologies and apply asset management principles to determine the best value for money programs.

  • Provide leadership to the subordinate reportees the Road Asset Engineer, Road Asset Field Officer as well as both Asset Inspectors fostering a workplace culture reflective of council’s corporate values.
  • Establish and maintain mentoring and coaching frameworks to up skill and empower reportee to consistently achieve high quality results, knowledge transfer and succession planning initiatives.
  • Oversee the engineering investigation and design of road rehabilitation options, including scoping and estimation of resurfacing and rehabilitation project costs, reviewing of previous programs, research into new technologies and application of asset management principles that determine the best value for money programs.
  • Coordinate the prioritising and programming of forward capital renewal programs for the road network using the pavement management system modelling, maintenance data, geotechnical investigations and other software systems and judgement to meet best whole of life requirements for the road network.
  • Provide technical expert advice and review of road designs to support the Asset Strategy Manager, as well as other Branches and Departments/Groups


About you

  • As a requirement of this role you will have a tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as project management, engineering or other similar qualifications relevant to the diverse range of duties required in the position. Registered as a Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or currently seeking registration.
  • You will have substantial experience and knowledge in design, construction and maintenance of road pavements and concrete infrastructure as well as associated drainage infrastructure.
  • You will have strong knowledge of civil construction standards and statutory requirements.
  • You will possess strong leadership skills and experience with demonstrated ability to motivate employee performance and promote an organisational culture reflective of council’s corporate values and “Work Safe: Live Well” safety mantra.
