About the Role

The Liveability and Natural Assets Group is focused on planning and delivery of the ‘big picture’ for the region. Balancing the need for residential, commercial, environmental and infrastructure development to meet the needs of the region’s growing population.


The role of Geospatial Analyst is to provide advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) advice and services for the Liveability and Natural Assets Group, primarily Environment & Sustainability and Environmental Operations branches.


  • Key duties include:


  • Creation and maintenance of spatial data and associated business processes related to the collection, recording and reporting of spatial related information, using ESRI Suite of desktop applications and mobile technologies.
  • Manage advanced manipulation and analysis of complex spatial requests,  investigate data non-conformities and develop and recommend resolution strategies.
  • Develop and prepare advanced information reporting for spatial related projects as required.
  • Work with team members and various other officers across Council to provide relevant spatial information to external parties in accordance with all legislative requirements.
  • Actively participate in continuous business improvement principles, provide technical advice and recommend resolution strategies.


About you

You will possess a Degree in Geographic Information Systems or other relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant experience, expertise and competency relevant to the position.


You will have previous success in Geographic Information Systems, the application of GIS in planning, development or environment fields and the ongoing development of data management systems.


You will be experienced in manipulating and analysing complex spatial data using ESRI GIS products and extensions, and a demonstrated ability in the application of ArcMap, ArGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Enterprise, including related extensions and scripting languages,  in an environmental planning or operational role and/or other related fields.


You will be a strong communicator with demonstrated experience in the management, deployment and presentation of spatial data, including but not limited to standards, data engineering, management systems.
