About the role:
Sunshine Coast is an exciting high growth region and one of the largest local governments in Australia. In this role you will be providing planning advice, assessment and reporting in relation to development applications and investigations, corporate activities and other matters, ensuring compliance with statutory timelines and promoting a consistent approach for planning assessment activities to achieve Council’s growth management and sustainability outcomes.
You will have substantial knowledge, experience and understanding to interpret and apply planning and environmental legislation, regulations, policies, statutory procedures and requirements for land use planning and assessment of development applications.
The aptitude to operate as an effective and integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong research, analysis, evaluation and problem solving skills, with the capacity to examine problems and develop strategies to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Demonstrated project management skills to assess and negotiate a range of moderate to complex development applications.
Exercise strong initiative in making decisions and resolving problems and conflicts in relation to development applications.
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and strengthen business relationships.
Excellent time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce quality reports with recommendations and produce related development assessment correspondence.
Additionally, you will have a recognised tertiary qualification/accreditations in the planning profession. Qualifications to satisfy membership status of the Planning Institute of Australia.
