About the role:
Sunshine Coast is an exciting high growth region and one of the largest local governments in Australia. The Team Leader will provide leadership and direction to the Planning Assessment Team in the delivery of expert planning advice and efficient assessment of wide range of development applications to internal and external customers.
You will be a leader of a highly motivated planning team, delivering outcomes on a wide range of development applications and projects, to help shape the future of our growing region.
You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning and environmental legislation, regulations, policies, statutory procedures and requirements for land use planning and assessment of development applications.
Bring experience in the operations of a large local government, the political environment, environmental sustainability and the pressures of growth management. Your well-developed leadership and project management skills with a proven ability to operate as an effective and integral leader of a multi-disciplinary team, including the ability to mentor and coach staff.
The ability to work with Councillors, the organisation, service providers and tiers of government, building strong business relationships through excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Additionally, you will have tertiary qualifications/accreditations and equivalent experience in the planning profession with a successful track record in town planning, statutory planning and development assessment in the workplace. A post graduate qualification/additional experience in private sector consultancies would be highly regarded.
