About the role:

The Communication Branch is responsible for all internal and external Council communications, marketing and media, focusing on continually building on Sunshine Coast Council’s reputation within and beyond the region.

The Branch supports the organisation in implementing strategies to ensure our organisation achieves its vision: To be Australia’s most sustainable region – healthy, smart, creative.

The Communication Officer is responsible for providing professional and proactive marketing and communication advice and services across council. You will work with the Media and Marketing Coordinators and Communication Branch staff to plan and deliver integrated marketing, promotions and communication strategies.

 

About you:

You will have demonstrated experience working within a marketing or communication environment, developing, coordinating and delivering integrated and contemporary communication strategies and campaigns.

Your ability to recognise opportunities to promote council and develop and implement effective communication plans which manage risks and contribute positively to council’s reputation will be highly valued.

You will have sound knowledge of traditional and social media practices and experience in issues management.

You will also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to confidently develop and maintain relationships within the communication industry.

To be successful in this role you will have recognised qualifications in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or other relevant discipline and hold a current “C” class drivers licence.
